Duets by Ron Carter & Yotam Silberstein - Out Today!

Today, we release Duets, the long-awaited album by Ron Carter and Yotam Silberstein.

Eight tracks, no drummer, just bass and guitar finding each other in swing, elegance, and deep mutual listening. A meeting between two generations, a master and his pupil, rooted in profound mutual respect and something rarer still: the freedom to play like two souls lost in music.

Recorded at the legendary Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, where Carter has cut hundreds of sessions since the 1960s, the album was conceived as a tribute to Carter’s iconic duo recordings with Jim Hall. It was JOJO RECORDS founder Simon Belelty, long shaped by those three Carter/Hall albums, who brought the idea to life. And as if by design, the session took place on December 4th: Jim Hall’s birthday.

The eight-track program balances rare standards with two original compositions by Silberstein: Rain Again, and Blues for Brother Malone, a deeply felt tribute to guitarist Russell Malone, a beloved friend of Yotam’s and a longtime member of Carter’s band, who passed away in Japan in August 2024, just months before the recording.

“With Ron, his understanding of the role of the bass is profound. He goes there every time, and it makes anything possible. He is the best.” - Yotam Silberstein
