Mamiko Watanabe - BEING GUIDED BY THE LIGHT
BEING GUIDED BY THE LIGHT is the fifth album by pianist Mamiko Watanabe and the fifth album to be released by acclaimed record label, Jojo Records. It is the representation of a musician in full flower, an artist reveling in her endless state of exploration. Mamiko plays the piano with the grace of a master but also the feral intensity of a jungle cat. This has led esteemed bassist Santi Debriano, one of her long-time collaborators and in the trio on this album, to compare Mamiko to the legendary McCoy Tyner. Mamiko is joined by two revered masters of jazz, Billy Hart on drums and Santi Debriano on bass.
Yotam Silberstein - STANDARDS
Yotam Silberstein, one of the leading jazz guitarists of his generation, has gained acclaim for a sound rich in bebop and blues as well as musical folklore from South America, North Africa and the Middle East, giving his music an increasingly global thrust. Yotam Silberstein has created a body of work that is an affirmation of the human spirit. The idiom he utilizes is jazz, an organic American music that is itself a celebration of freedom. Yotam brings his own voice, transposed through the guitar, to bear witness to the better angels of human endeavor through harmony, melody, riffing, and the beauty of transcendent, virtuosic musical expression. On his new album Standards, Silberstein is joined by a straight-ahead legend in tenor saxophonist George Coleman, bassist’s bassist John Patitucci, and Billy Hart, a living legend of the jazz drumming lineage. Throughout, the guitarist channels the bebop and blues that forged him, into some of the most treasured songs in the Western musical canon.
“Lo-Joe,” the second single from the upcoming Yotam Silberstein album “Standards.” Yotam is joined by bassist John Patitucci, drummer Billy Hart and the legendary tenor saxophonist and the song’s composer George Coleman. “Lo-Joe” truly shows the band’s range from the pensive beauty and sound of the cavaquinho, they swing into classic bebop, Monk-like in its quirky chord changes, with a classic, robust turn on the tenor saxophone by Coleman himself.

"My Grandfather’s Clock," composed by Henry Clay Work, is the second single from pianist Mamiko Watanabe’s anticipated new album, "Being Guided By The Light." It’s like a wedding song or a musical hymn, but, in the thrall of Mamiko’s left-hand ostinato, becomes something more fully dimensional - Mamiko at her most improvisational.

“Serenata” is the first single from guitarist Yotam Silberstein’s latest album Standards (his first for Jojo Records). Yotam is joined by bassist John Patitucci and drummer Billy Hart on this beautiful rendition. On the full album the Trio is also joined by sax legend, George Coleman.
